What can I watch?
The first step is to find what channels you want to watch. You may already know what you'd like to watch, but don't know how to receive it.
That's ok - we can make the process quick and easy. But first a quick lesson on satellite TV.
There are many satellites orbiting the planet. We can't receive them all, as some are on the other side of the earth. There are about 16 or so that we can get a signal from in Australia.
The most common satellite we get signals from in Australia is Optus C1. It's the one most of those little black dishes you see on people's homes are pointed at. This gets the customer Foxtel Pay TV. We don't do Foxtel, and we don't sell anything illegal - so please don't bug us for a pirate card to get Fox working again. If you had an illegal Fox setup and want to use the equipment again, click here to see how.
Another common dish is those big black wire mesh ones. These receive a bunch of different satellites because they can move around to point in the direction of the satellite you want to look at. You may need one of these, depending on what you want to watch.
Some people may need a small 85cm dish similar to the Foxtel ones while others will need a mesh dish - it all depends on what you want to watch.
So - what can I watch?
To figure out what you can watch, you only need one piece of information - the name of the satellite that transmits the tv station(s) you'd like to see.
Some services are encrypted, this means you can't watch them without a valid subscriber card that you'll have to pay for. These are marked so you know which ones are free, and which are encrypted. Again, please don't bug us for pirate cards, it's illegal and we don't sell them.
And now, on to the database. This is a seperate web site not connected with Hantrex at all, it's a great resource that is constantly updated - so you're guarenteed to get the right information.
Click on the links below to see what is on which satellite. Note, all the satellites listed can be viewed from the east coast of Australia.
Once you've found the channel(s) you've been looking for, note the satellite name and click here to find out what equipment you need to see the channels you want.
