Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I get free pay tv?
No.
2. Do I need a council permit?
It depends on the council. As a general rule of thumb, dishes less than one metre in diameter do not require any permits. Additionally, if the dish can't be seen from the street, then you may not require a permit. Check with your local council though, don't take our word for it.
3. Will your receivers work with any satellites?
Yes, they are designed to work with any satellite in orbit. They will work with either the 85cm dish, or the 2.3Metre dish.
4. Can I join two satellite dishes together on the one receiver?
Yes, you can - all you need is a switch that will join up the cables, like this one.
5. Is it easy to 'tune in' to a satellite?
That all depends on where you are, and how patient you're willing to be. Some satellites are very easy to find, while others will take a while longer. This is due to the signal strength and also the position of the satellite. Those on the horizon are harder to tune because you have to be spot on, whereas ones that are due north are easy to find and tune.
6. Is there any guarentee that the channel I want to watch will be there next month?
Unfortunately no, tv stations move around a bit, and also come and go. There are quite a few channels that are very consistant with the satellite they are on and have been there for years though.
7. Can I get an Aurora card from Hantrex?
No. You can apply for one though if you live in a remote area. Click here for more details.
